Tedeschi Trucks Band Dusts Off George Harrison’s “Wah-Wah” For His Birthday In Nashville [Videos]

first_imgOn Saturday night, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the Ryman Auditorium stage for their second of four performances in the storied Nashville room on their current tour. The band began with the twang of Let Me Get By cut “Don’t Know What It Means, followed by the band’s first 2018 rendition of The Box Tops‘ “The Letter”. Another song from Let Me Get By, “Right On Time”, came next, followed by staple Leonard Cohen cover “Bird on the Wire”.The first older original of the evening came next, as the band ran through frequently-played Revelator tune “Don’t Let Me Slide”. Derek and the Dominos classic “Keep on Growing” came next, the Eric Clapton guitar part allowing Derek Trucks let loose and flex his continually-impressive chops. Fan-favorite “Midnight in Harlem” followed, placing a smooth spotlight on Susan Tedeschi for a lush performance of one of the bands more beautiful numbers. Finally, to close out set one, Tedeschi Trucks Band broke out George Harrison‘s “Wah-Wah”, their first rendition of the All Things Must Pass tune since almost exactly one year prior (2/25/17). That, of course, was no accident: Today, February 25th, marks Harrison’s birthday, and “Wah-Wah” served as a fitting tribute to the late Beatle on both occasions, even though this year’s tribute fell the day before Harrison’s actual birthday (there’s no show tonight).Set two began with the band’s new cover of Stevie Wonder‘s “Love Having You Around”, making its 7th live appearance after being debuted in January at the Sunshine Music Festival. The band followed with originals old and new, pairing Let Me Get By‘s “Just as Strange” with Revelator’s “Ball and Chain”. Next, they mixed it up with a couple of well-worn covers: Sleepy John Estes‘ “Leaving Trunk” and Rahsaan Roland Kirk‘s “Volunteered Slavery”.The title track from 2013’s “Made Up Mind” got the call next, before a fantastic run of tunes closed out the set, including a trio of fan-favorite covers (John Prine classic “Angel From Montgomery”, soulful Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter go-to “Sugaree, and The Coasters‘ irreverent “Let’s Go Get Stoned”) as well as a powerful concluding “I Want More”. Finally, the band returned to the stage for a final number–Joe Cocker‘s “Space Captain”–to send the Music City crowd home humming and satisfied.Below, you can view a selection of videos from the performance. Tedeschi Trucks Band tour continues this week with performances in Lafayette, LA on Tuesday and Jackson, MS on Thursday before the band returns to Nashville for two more Ryman gigs next weekend. Major Indian manufacturer turns to renewable generation

first_imgMajor Indian manufacturer turns to renewable generation FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享APN News:Wienerberger India’s robotic plant producing over 70,000 large format hollow blocks each day for the fast-growing construction industry has moved to sustainable electricity sources including wind and solar energy.Initially, Wienerberger India’s state-of-the-art factory, located in Kunigal, 70 kms from Bangalore, was dependent solely on conventional energy sources for its electricity requirement. This meant operating heavy duty robotics and other machinery capable of manufacturing a mammoth count of nearly 480 tons of clay blocks per day, 365 days a year, with minimum manual intervention, would need significant energy. In order to reduce dependence on the usual electricity sources, Wienerberger India was always on the lookout for alternative and renewable energy sources that would further its efforts for creating a sustainable roadmap in large-scale manufacturing. Since 2017, the factory was successful in sourcing over 90% of its electricity requirement from solar & wind farms.Adds Monnanda Appaiah, Managing Director, Wienerberger India, “Heavy duty automation and use of technology has made Wienerberger, by far, one of the largest clay block producers in South East Asia. With hi-tech robotics aiding the production process of over 70,000 large format blocks which is equivalent to 630,000 regular bricks per day, it is very obvious that the need for electricity is very substantial. And we are happy to state today that we have successfully managed to channel over 92% of Wienerberger’s electricity needs today from solar and wind energy.”Wienerberger, with a rich heritage spanning two centuries, is a formidable name in the international building manufacturing market. With 200 years of experience & specialization in producing clay-based building material, the company also pioneered [using] green technology in its production methodology. A firm sustainability roadmap is imprinted in the very ethos of the company’s working blueprint.By conscious implementation of processes that not only recycles used energy but also reduce dependence on conventional sources of electricity, the company’s efforts towards adopting greener energy sources like wind & solar, has helped Wienerberger India to successfully set benchmarks for the building manufacturing industry across the country and the world at large.More: Wienerberger India moves to wind and solar energylast_img read more

Religious activities now allowed in NegOcc’s GCQ

first_imgMoreover, religious organizations shall inform the public of the schedule of Masses or services, and are encouraged to continue the online streaming of these Masses or services. Meanwhile, EO 20-24 reiterates the closure of borders, ports, and airports in Negros Occidental until May 31, as stated in EO 20-15. Churches and religious establishments are also required to disinfect the premises after every service. Buzon heads the Diocese of Bacolod, which covers parishes not only in Bacolod but also in some towns and cities in the southern and northern part of Negros Occidental. Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson gave the green light to the resumption of church Masses and services as part of Executive Order (EO) 20-24, which formalizes the extension of the general community quarantine (GCQ) in the province until May 31. This is stated in Section 2 providing safeguards against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) under the heightened patrol of seaports and borders, along with the practice of social distancing, 14-day mandatory quarantine for all persons entering the province, mandatory use of face mask, and intra-border checkpoints. BACOLOD City – Religious activities in cities and towns in Negros Occidental, excluding Bacolod City, will resume Monday, May 16 with strict observance and enforcement of social distancing and safety protocols. Section 3 states that religious organizations shall only be allowed to admit attendees of up to only 50 percent of the building capacity. “There will be Masses and as I understand from Bishop (Patricio) Buzon, they intend to have more Masses, considering the limited number of parishioners that can come in during a single Mass,” Lacson said in a press conference before he signed the EO on Friday afternoon. “The borders between Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental will remain closed,” Lacson said. (PNA) “There shall be no physical contact and everyone shall wear a face mask at all times,” it added.last_img read more

Tips for upcoming winter weather

first_imgStay fire safe:Keep flammable items at least three feet from heat sources like radiators, space heaters, fireplaces and wood stoves.Plug only one heat-producing appliance (such as a space heater) into an electrical outlet at a time.Ensure you have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home. Check it on a monthly basis.Keep warm, even when it’s cold outside:If you have a furnace, have it inspected now to ensure it’s in good working condition. If your home heating requires propane gas, stock up on your propane supply and ensure you have enough to last an entire winter. Many homeowners faced shortages due to the record freezing winter weather last year, and this season there’s the possibility of lower than normal temperatures again. Don’t be caught unprepared.Avoid the dangers of carbon monoxide by installing battery-powered or battery back-up carbon monoxide detectors.Winterize your home to extend the life of your fuel supply by insulating walls and attics, caulking and weather-stripping doors and windows, and installing storm windows or covering windows with plastic.Prevent frozen pipes:If your pipes are vulnerable to freezing, i.e., they run through an unheated or unprotected space, consider keeping your faucet at a slow drip when extremely cold temperatures are predicted. If you’re planning a trip this winter, avoid setting your heat too low. If temperatures dip dangerously low while you’re away, that could cause pipes to freeze. Consider draining your home’s water system before leaving as another way to avoid frozen pipes. Snow and ice storms closed schools and businesses early January.BATESVILLE, Ind. – Cold temperatures, heavy snow, and treacherous ice storms are all risks of the impending winter season.“Severe winter weather can be dangerous and even life-threatening for people who don’t take the proper precautions,” said FEMA Region V acting administrator Janet Odeshoo. “Preparedness begins with knowing your risks, making a communications plan with your family and having an emergency supply kit with essentials such as water, food, flashlights and medications.”Once you’ve taken these steps, consider going beyond the basics of disaster preparedness with the following tips to stay safe this cold season: Winterize your emergency supply kit:Before winter approaches, add the following items to your supply kit:Rock salt or other environmentally safe products to melt ice on walkways. Visit the EPA for a complete list of recommended products.Sand to improve traction.Snow shovels and other snow removal equipment.Sufficient heating fuel and/or a good supply of dry, seasoned wood for your fireplace or wood-burning stove.Adequate clothing and blankets to keep you warm.last_img read more

Saka has been covering that position ahead of Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney who have been struggling with injuries and lack of form throughout this campaign.Saka has put together a number of impressive performances for the Gunners at full-back having recorded nine assists across all competitions even though that is not his primary position. The 18-year-old prefers to play in attack as a left winger and manager Arteta seems keen to see him returning to his natural role up front.According to reports, that is why Arsenal is keeping tabs on Tagliafico who has stood out at Ajax in the last two years having played a major role in the club’s Eredivisie title triumph last season. The Argentina international was also vital in the Dutch giants’ incredible Champions League run last term which saw them making it to the semi-finals.
