first_imgCheeky Donegal musician Rory Gallagher has contacted Oasis star Noel Gallagher’s management offering them €200 if he makes up with brother Liam and opens his new bar.Rory and the Island!Rory, famous for his GAA anthem ‘Jimmy’s Winning Matches’, wrote to Primary Talent asking them if the Gallagher Brothers were available. The Kilcar man already runs The Island Bar on the sun-kissed island of Lanzarote. The former Revs lead singer said he only wants Noel to sing two tunes on the opening night of his new bar Gallagher’s on August 21st next.Rory wrote “We would like to book Noel for the opening party on the 21st of this month as we feel that the fact he has the same surname he would only love to do it. Please do not call before 1pm as I sleep late and there’s also no point in calling after 4pm as I am normally playing the PS4 then getting dinner. Thanks you – Rory Gallagher.”RORY OFFERS OASIS BROTHERS €200 TO OPEN HIS NEW BAR! was last modified: August 11th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalgallagherLanzaroteLiam GallagherNoelOasisRory Gallagherlast_img read more

Latest: Chelsea 1 Bolton 1 – Blues pegged back by Mills leveller

first_imgMatt Mills equalised for Bolton after Kurt Zouma had scored on his Chelsea debut to put them ahead in the Capital One Cup third-round clash at Stamford Bridge.Andre Schurrle had been at the heart of the early action as the Blues dominated, firing wide and then seeing an in-swinging left-wing free-kick palmed to safety by Andy Lonergan.Bolton keeper Lonergan then did brilliantly to tip Schurrle’s 16th-minute free-kick onto the bar as Chelsea continued to attack. And the German went close again when he cut in from the left and sent a low shot wide from near the edge of the penalty area. The breakthrough for Chelsea eventually came when Bolton were unable to clear Oscar’s corner and after headers from Gary Cahill and then Loic Remy, Zouma fired into the net from close range.Mohamed Salah then almost doubled with the lead when he curled wide from near the edge of the penalty area.Chelsea seemed to be in complete control but were suddenly pegged back when centre-back Mills rose to head home Liam Feeney’s free-kick.Loic Remy is making his first start for Chelsea, whose line-up also includes keeper Petr Cech – who captains the team – Mohamed Salah and Nathan Ake.Chelsea: Cech; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Cahill, Luis; Mikel, Ake; Salah, Oscar, Schurrle; Remy.Subs: Schwarzer, Ivanovic, Hazard, Drogba, Matic, Christensen, Baker.Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebooklast_img read more

SA registers over 1-million new voters

first_img13 November 2013 South Africa registered over one-million first-time voters last weekend, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) chairperson Pansy Tlakula said on Tuesday. Addressing the media in Centurion outside Pretoria, Tlakula said the voter registration weekend had gone smoothly, with 2 512 219 people being assisted at the country’s 22 263 registration stations. “Of these, 1 088 015 (43%) were new voters registering for the first time. Their commitment to democracy has helped boost the overall registration levels to almost 77% of eligible voters, up from 73.6% before the weekend,” she said. The IEC chairperson said a further 1.7-million people (46.6%) used the opportunity to change their existing registration to a different voting station, and about 10.1% (253 098) re-registered at their existing voting station. Tlakula said the number of registered voters aged 18 to 19 tripled, from 167 535 prior to the weekend to 434 370. The registration percentage of 22.6% for this age group remained the lowest, and there was a need to attract a new generation of voters to the poll, she said. In terms of gender, the new registrations were in line with the general population in South Africa, with 53% being women and 47% being men. According to Tlakula, KwaZulu-Natal had the highest voter registration turnout with 620 864, followed by Gauteng (572 395), Eastern Cape (339 614), Western Cape (295 497), Mpumalanga (197 551), Limpopo (178 800), Free State (140 304), North West (116 438) and the Northern Cape (50 756). “We encourage all those who have not yet done so to register at our offices, which are situated mainly at municipal buildings, before next year’s general elections.” She said the IEC was deciding whether there would be another voter registration weekend. The IEC has set a target of getting two-million new registrations by the time the voters’ roll closes before next year’s general elections. Source: SAnews.gov.zalast_img read more

How to Shoot Tonight’s Meteor Shower

first_imgA huge meteor shower is scheduled to light up North America’s sky tonight. Here’s a few tips on how to capture them.Tonight is a great night for filmmakers, photographers, and space enthusiasts alike. A meteor shower is scheduled to streak across the skys of North America from 2-4AM EST early saturday morning (or late friday night depending on where you live). This particular meteor shower, named Camelopardalids, is special because it is projected to have over 100 meteors per hour compared to the 10-20 an hour average for most showers. Because of this momentous occasion we have decided to give photographers and filmmakers alike a few tips on capturing the meteors as the streak across the sky. What You’ll needShooting meteors is very similar to shooting time-lapse photography so you will need similar equipment. Namely, a DSLR that can handle exposures of multiple seconds. Forget your video camera, these meteors on average travel across our atmosphere at 291,000 miles per hour meaning they are only in the sky for a fraction of a second. So shooting video at 24fps with a rolling shutter will likely capture nothing more than grainy starry sky.The next crucial tool needed is a timed shutter release. These tools are designed to automatically take pictures at a given duration. This is important because if you are wanting to make your meteor shower into a video you need to completely take your hands off the camera. The slightest bump will result in blurry and bumpy footage. On that note, Make sure you bring an extremely sturdy tripod. Preferably one with pointed tips that can dig into the ground and stay put.Your camera is going to need to be taking pictures for at least 2 hours so make sure you have enough batteries. If you forget to bring extra’s, try turning off automatic preview so the LCD screen doesn’t turn on after each shot. Lastly, you will need a few memory cards for your camera. Make sure they can hold a lot of information. RAW pictures can take up a lot of space quickly.Where to beCNN states that the best place to view the Meteor shower is east of the Mississippi River or in California. There are a few storms scheduled to be over the great plains all the way down through Texas so if you live in these states you will probably have a difficult time seeing the meteor shower.Courtesy of the Weather ChannelIt is also extremely important that you get away from city lights. Shooting time-lapse footage in an urban environment will result in overexposure. If you are unsure where to go check out the Night Sky in the World website and take a look at their illuminated map of North America.Courtesy of LearnNCAlso be aware of airplane flight patterns. They may seem like incredibly huge meteors in the video but they are far too slow and distracting. However, If you want to ever shoot some stars with airplane trails you can get some pretty awesome results.Camera settingsAlright you’ve got the equipment, you’re in the perfect location (probably the wilderness of Arizona) and you’re ready to shoot the meteors. First thing you need to do is make sure your camera is set to RAW. Now grab the widest lens you have and open up your aperture as wide as you possibly can get (a.k.a. low f-stop). Hopefully you already own a few good wide prime’s from shooting video but if not, you can just rent one for tonight only, It’ll be worth it. Set the exposure time on your shutter release timer to 30 seconds for best results. And lastly adjust your ISO as needed. Remember high ISO numbers will result in a lot of noise but low a low ISO won’t capture faint meteors. It’s all about balance. So a quick checklist:DSLR Camera not Video CameraSturdy TripodShutter release timerMultiple batteriesLarge memory cardsGet away from city lightsSet Camera to RawWide lens with wide open apertureContinual 30 second exposuresISO as neededThere you go. You’re now ready to shoot the meteor shower tonight!Creative inspirationNeed some inspiration for the shoot tonight? Check out these awesome meteor shower videos we found. A Lack of Growth and The Failures of Accountability

first_img Essential Reading! Get my 3rd book: Eat Their Lunch “The first ever playbook for B2B salespeople on how to win clients and customers who are already being serviced by your competition.” Buy Now When people write about the fact that less than fifty-percent of salespeople reach their quota, they often intimate that salespeople are somehow getting worse. Maybe they are getting worse, perhaps they aren’t. But if they are failing, pointing the bony finger of indignation at the salespeople is to avoid placing the blame where it belongs. The lack of growth for most sales organizations starts with a lack of accountability.Growth and Development“We can’t make our people take the training. We can’t take them out of the field. We don’t have time to coach. They already know how to sell.” You can have your excuses, or you can have the better results you need. You cannot, however, have both. There may have never been a time when training and development were needed as much as they are now. It turns out the idea of social selling was a lot less than people made it out to be. Instead, the internet and the proliferation of information, the smartphone, the new business models based on organizing underutilized assets, and the glut of competitors in every market made selling much more difficult than earlier times. It’s never been true that someone’s experience in sales guaranteed their performance. It’s always been true that people in any human endeavor who train and develop their teams produce better results. If you are not holding your people and yourself accountable for growing and developing, you are neglecting your single most valuable assets. If you want your people to get better, you have to make it a priority and hold them accountable.Prospecting for New Business“I can’t make my salesforce prospect. No one wants to make cold calls. My senior salespeople are too valuable to prospect.” If you are unwilling to hold people accountable for prospecting, how will you acquire the new opportunities you need? Salespeople only do two things: 1) create new opportunities, and 2) capture opportunities. The laws of the Universe require that one create opportunities as the prerequisite to capturing those opportunities. It’s the law of the farm.High performing sales organizations have a hunter culture. They are not only focused on acquiring new opportunities, but they target and pursue the most valuable prospects, i.e., Dream Clients. They are intentional in what they want and the actions they take. But the reason the culture exists is that these salespeople are held accountable for generating new opportunities.Selling Effectively“They have their own style. They’ve sold for a long time. I can’t tell them how to sell.” Losing isn’t a style. Selling poorly, as widespread as it is, also isn’t a style. We know a lot about how to sell successfully in the 21st Century. We know even more about what one should avoid.Your sales processes and methodologies are only suggestions if you allow them to be. Even though the sales conversation is nonlinear, it doesn’t mean that you should skip good discovery and the consensus that is now required if you want to win deals. Who allows a salesperson to have an hour-long phone conversation followed by an emailed pricing proposal and expects their team to win new business? If your salespeople are allowed to avoid doing the things necessary to acquire new clients or customers, many will do so.Opportunities are too hard to come by to do anything less than your best work pursuing them. If you want to win them, you need your team to sell effectively. You have to create accountability for excellence in selling.CRM Hygiene“They don’t want to use the CRM. I can’t make them. They don’t even know how to use it.” Let me offer some help with how to use a CRM. In the box that is titled “First Name,” you type in a contact’s first name. In the box titled, “Last Name,” you enter the contact’s last name. If your sales force doesn’t use the CRM, it is because they are allowed not to, not because they don’t know how.You depend on data and information to run your business. For many, forecasting is necessary to ensure they have the resources to serve their clients. If you are going to have meaningful discussions around opportunities, especially your deal strategy, it’s helpful to have the context necessary to make good decisions. There is nothing more important than your relationships, and there is no reason not to maintain the records of these relationships. There is no reason such a useful tool should be optional, and there should be no fear of holding people accountable for using the now long accepted tools of the trade.Disqualifying Bad Business“They have opportunities. How can they reach their number if we disqualify their deals?”The reason leaders fail to hold people accountable for disqualifying bad business is that it decimates most pipelines (sometimes referred to as “pipe-lies”). Leaders worry about not having the coverage they believe they need to reach their goals, so they allow some salespeople to hold on to hope while being even more hopeful themselves. Because these reps are allowed to keep their non-opportunities, they don’t have to create real—and better—opportunities.Non-deals are not better than no deals. They are the same, as neither produces any revenue and if a bad deal does, it comes at too great a cost. We have already dealt with the root cause here, prospecting. If you want a pipeline, you first need accountability.Reaching GoalsHow can you possibly hold people accountable to their goals, when you can’t get them to put their deals in your CRM? How do you make them responsible for their number when you don’t hold them accountable to create new opportunities? The same salespeople that fail for one leader succeed for another. The people you believe don’t want to perform better do want to improve, and they know they need to prospect. They want to sell more effectively, they want good business, and they want to reach their goals. But it isn’t easy for many, which is why they require your leadership. If you want your people to be accountable, you have to go first and hold yourself responsible for requiring what is necessary for your team to succeed.last_img read more
